• Some of the character and paragraph characteristics apply to these as well
• Root used for root of tree; background-color characteristic
• Leader flow object; content is flow object sequence to be repeated; fills out line.
• Rule flow object; orientation characteristic, not inherited, determines whether horizontal and vertical and whether displayed. Length characteristic determines length. Maybe characteristics to control thickness etc.
• External graphic flow objects. Processing specified with notation; just a level of indirection of SGML's notation feature. Hard to handle in system-independent way. More can be standardized at SGML Open level.
• Labeled-item flow object used for marked lists (definition lists). Two ports: label and text.
